Youth Activism for Greener Municipalities

Center for Climate Change started implementing the project “Youth Activism for Greener Municipalities”, in partnership with the Macedonian Association of Young Lawyers – MZMP, the Association for Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection GOU GREEN and the Association of Youth Creaktiv.

The Youth Activism for Greener Municipalities project (hereinafter the Project) is an action financially supported by the European Union with agreement no. IPA/2021/430-653 within the framework of the IPA Civil Society Facility and Media Program 2020 – Support to civic youth initiatives, activism and volunteering in local communities. The project will be implemented in the period from January 1, 2022 to June 30, 2024. The general goal of the Project is to strengthen the influence of youth activists and youth organizations in environmental protection policies and processes implemented at the local level. The project has the following specific objectives:

  1. Strengthening the capacities of youth activists and youth organizations to implement effective advocacy activities at the local level;
  2. Establishing a partnership between key stakeholders in order to ensure the implementation of the standards established in Chapter 27 of the European acquis in at least 12 municipalities and
  3. Increasing the number of environmental protection initiatives by youth activists and youth organizations at the local level. In order to achieve the intended goals, the project includes the implementation of several activities grouped into three components. The first component will cover the development of a digital tool for conducting trainings and courses for youth activists on topics related to environmental protection, climate change and eco-activism. In addition, a training program for young lawyers on environmental protection will be implemented. Within the framework of the second component, the Project will develop manuals and guidelines for establishing procedures for the inclusion of young people in processes related to the environment, as well as specific municipalities will be supported by drafting acts and documents related to this topic. The third component will include financial and mentoring support to youth organizations and activists to implement specific initiatives in the local community.
