The project “Regional partnership for better implementation of the Green Agenda for Western Balkan on local level”, will contribute to enabling the transition of Macedonia towards the EU’s goals for a carbon neutral society through inclusive and transparent implementation of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans at the local level, with active cooperation of the civil sector with all stakeholders and involvement in the creation of policies.
The project is implemented by the Center for Climate Change in cooperation with partners Eco Green Movement, Geosfrera, Ekoturizam – 2016 Ohrid, Kreaktiv, Foundation for Local Development and Development of Information Technologies, National Roma Center and Eco Action.
The overall objective of the project is to enable the transition of Macedonia towards the EU goals for a carbon neutral society, through inclusive and transparent implementation of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans in the RSM.
The overall objective of the project will be achieved by fulfilling the following specific objectives of the project:
SO 1: Strengthening the capacities of CSOs and LGUs for better involvement in the implementation of the Green Agenda and stimulating cooperation between CSOs and LGUs
SO 2: CSOs to support LGUs in the process of creating local policies for the implementation of the Green Agenda at the local level
SO 3: To raise the awareness of RSM citizens about the benefits of the Green Agenda
Expected results of the project are:
R1 – Strengthened capacities of CSOs to monitor the implementation of the GAWB at the local level and greater involvement in the decision-making process and the establishment of monitoring to monitor the implementation of the GAWB at the local level
R2 – Developed policies and strategies for the implementation of GAWB at the local level
R3 – Increased awareness of the general public about the benefits of ZAZB
The following activities will be carried out within the project:
A1. Mapping of existing policies for GAWB at the local level, including the capacities of CSOs working in this area
A2. Regional trainings for capacity building for GAWB
A3. Regional Community Forums
A4. Development of a methodology and IT tool for monitoring the implementation of the GAWB at the local level
A5. Report on the implementation of the GAWB
A6. Roadmap for the implementation of GAWB at the local level
A7. Regional partnership for GAWB
A8. Raising public awareness of the importance of GAWB
A9. National Forum (NF) on Green Agenda (thematic forum)
The total budget of the project is MKD 13,999,791.
The duration of the project is 34 months, from December 1, 2023 to September 30, 2026.

Civica Mobilitas is a project of the Government of Switzerland to support civil society in North Macedonia, which is implemented by the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (MCIS), NIRAS from Denmark and FCG from Sweden. The goal of the program is the social changes in North Macedonia that are led by a strong civil society sector, by active citizens and good cooperation with the authorities, which results in an expanded civil space, more sustainable civil society organizations and more transparent, accountable and socially inclusive governance at the central and local level.
