On the occasion of the “World Environment Day”, Center for Climate Change – Gevgelija organized a one-day event in the Municipality of Gevgelija. Within the event, a parade for clean air was organized in which 50 children from JUDG “Detska Radost” took part. The parade was held in the center of Gevgelija, where the youngest paraded with messages for clean environment, performed a musical act and recited songs with ecological messages. With this, the young people sent a strong message that they want to live in a clean and healthy environment and the importance of treating the environment careful.
The event continued in the primary schools “Vlado Kantardziev” and “Krste Misirkov” with presentations on air pollution and its harmful effects. Within the presentations, students have the opportunity to get acquainted with the composition of the air, how it’s polluted, how to measure the quality of ambient air and recommendations how to reduce / prevent the pollution.
The event was organized within the project ” Transboundary Air Pollution Health Index Development and Implementation – (TRAP)” implemented by the Center for Climate Change and the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning of the Republic of Northern and is funded by the European Union through the IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Program North Macedonia – Greece.
